About
Based in Seattle by way of Detroit, Josh Dahlberg has been DJing and producing music for over twenty years. He’s known for his unassuming, analog-centered approach that touches on house, techno, electro, and ambient, most recently as The Valley and the Mountain (abbr. TVTM).
While in Detroit, Josh had the privilege to work for the legendary Underground Resistance/Submerge camp; a transformative experience that fundamentally influences his world view broadly, and approach to creating music specifically. During his time in Detroit, he would release several records, perform at now fabled venues like The Shelter, Oslo, Bankle Building, and Bo House as well as Movement Electronic Music Festival twice.
His former label, Blank Artists, would release 25+ albums and EPs that included artists such as Jared Wilson, Osborne, Monty Luke, Ectomorph, Derek Plaslaiko, Patrick Russell, Kevin Reynolds, and R. Gamble. After quietly shuttering Blank Artists in 2012, he unceremoniously deleted all his social media and continued to write music secretly as TVTM. He’s since released a series of records alongside artists like Gerald Donald, DJ Stingray, DMX Krew, JD Twitch, and Ceephax Acid Crew.
As TVTM, Dahlberg explores the tension between nature and technology, drawing from a studio full of analog hardware, he leverages ephemeral recording techniques to create works ranging from moody dance floor grooves to atmospheric soundscapes.
In 2021, Josh relocated to Seattle where he immerses himself in the local scenery and channels that into his productions. Recently he’s released two records including an ambient/experimental 7” with JoRad Silver and a 12” of mid tempo, dubby, electro tracks featuring a world class remix by DJ Aakmael. Keeping active as a DJ, Josh hosts a monthly event at Selector Records called Exploration that gets archived as a podcast, as well as having played for events at Kremwerk and Substation.
